Choose a checkpoint that helps you stay consistent
Milestones are planning devices, not promises of wealth or status. Their usefulness comes from making progress measurable. One million sats may be a strong first target; someone farther along may focus on 0.21 or 0.5 BTC.
Market value will change, but the BTC-to-satoshi conversion does not. Track the units you own, review the budget you control, and avoid treating an arbitrary number as a reason to take unsuitable risk.

0.01 BTC: one million sats
One million sats replaces a string of decimal zeros with a memorable whole number. It can also be divided into ten checkpoints of 100,000 sats, which makes a first plan easier to review. Small, frequent withdrawals may create many on-chain outputs, however, so withdrawal fees and future transaction costs deserve attention before automatically moving every small purchase.
0.1 BTC: ten million sats
At 0.1 BTC, every additional 0.01 BTC adds ten percent of the distance to the milestone. That makes progress easy to audit without anchoring every decision to a one-Bitcoin target. Ten million sats is still a fixed quantity; labels such as “ten percent of a coin” do not imply ten percent of a future dollar value.
0.21 BTC: twenty-one million sats
The 21 in 0.21 echoes Bitcoin’s 21 million maximum supply, which makes the milestone memorable in Bitcoin culture. It does not create a special protocol status, guarantee scarcity-based returns, or represent an equal share of global supply. Treat the symbolism as a motivation device and keep the underlying budget grounded.
0.5 BTC: fifty million sats
Reaching 0.5 BTC makes the arithmetic to one bitcoin symmetrical: 0.5 BTC held and 0.5 BTC remaining. The financial effort may not be symmetrical because future purchase prices can differ sharply from past prices. This is a sensible point to recheck custody, backups, concentration risk, and whether the original contribution schedule still fits.
1 BTC: one hundred million sats
“Wholecoiner” is an informal label for someone associated with one BTC. The Bitcoin network grants no special account type, yield, protection, or rights at that balance. Reaching one BTC can be personally meaningful, but it also makes secure records, custody decisions, inheritance planning, and resistance to social-engineering attacks more important.
Use a checkpoint without counting coins twice
In the tracker, total holdings equal manual holdings plus watch-only balances. The purchase journal is a separate record; logging a buy does not automatically add it to holdings. Update manual holdings or explicitly use the journal total, and never include the same coins in both manual and watch-only totals.
