Convert satoshis and Bitcoin

One bitcoin always equals 100,000,000 satoshis. Convert either direction without relying on a market price.

Why use satoshis?

Satoshis make small Bitcoin amounts easier to read. Saying “25,000 sats” can be clearer than saying “0.00025 BTC.” The unit changes the label, not the underlying amount.

How the conversion works

Multiply BTC by 100,000,000 to calculate sats. Divide sats by 100,000,000 to calculate BTC. The calculator keeps up to eight BTC decimal places and rounds satoshis to a whole number because one sat is the smallest standard unit.

When copying an amount into a purchase record, keep the unit in the column heading. A bare value such as “25000” is ambiguous later; “25,000 sats” or “0.00025 BTC” is not.

Unit math, not dollar valueThis converter does not use a Bitcoin price. The relationship between BTC and sats is fixed; the relationship between either unit and dollars is not.
