Bitcoin Retirement Calculator

Will the Bitcoin and other investments you are building support the retirement income you want? Compare a projected portfolio with an income-based target.

Today's BTC/USD quote is a starting value only. All future returns and inflation rates are separate hypothetical modeling assumptions, not predictions or guarantees. Actual Bitcoin losses can be much greater than any example scenario. No investment advice.

What this calculator answers

Start with an annual spending goal in today’s dollars, not a Bitcoin price target. This tool projects your existing BTC and traditional savings to your selected retirement age, then translates that portfolio into an illustrative first-year income. It separates the question “How large could my portfolio become?” from “How much purchasing power do I need?”

How the calculation works

The model compounds Bitcoin prices and traditional investments monthly using effective annual assumptions. New contributions arrive at month-end and follow your Bitcoin allocation; the remainder goes to traditional investments. Desired income is increased by inflation until retirement. The required portfolio is that future annual income divided by your selected withdrawal percentage. Required monthly savings solves the same accumulation equation with your current allocation held fixed.

Retirement target = today’s annual income × (1 + inflation)^years ÷ withdrawal rate.

Worked example

Suppose you need $40,000 a year in today’s dollars, retirement is ten years away, inflation is 0%, and your illustrative withdrawal rate is 4%. The portfolio target is $40,000 ÷ 0.04 = $1,000,000. If your projected portfolio is $800,000, the initial modeled income is $32,000 and the annual income gap is $8,000. Changing inflation to 3% raises the nominal portfolio target to about $1,343,916; it does not improve purchasing power.

How to interpret the result

A funding gap gives you several assumptions to investigate: a later retirement age, a lower spending target, a higher savings budget, or a different allocation. Increasing assumed Bitcoin growth can close a spreadsheet gap without making the real plan more resilient. Compare the negative Bitcoin-growth example before treating a contribution figure as affordable. Keep emergency cash and near-term spending needs outside volatile holdings.

Assumptions and limitations

This is a deterministic accumulation model, not a safe-retirement verdict. A constant withdrawal percentage does not test whether assets last for life. Taxes, pensions, benefits, account withdrawal restrictions, changing spending, and the order of good and bad investment years can materially alter an actual retirement plan. The starting BTC price is a planning input, not a live market quote.

Privacy and practical next steps

The calculator does not connect to a wallet or change the Bitcoin Goal Tracker. Financial inputs remain in page memory except the shared live/manual price preference, most recent custom price, and last validated quote, which use isolated localStorage keys. Copying results is optional and includes financial inputs. Only a request for a normalized BTC/USD quote is sent to Stack2One's internal price endpoint; calculator financial inputs are not sent or included in custom analytics events.

Once you have a budget you want to follow, enter it yourself in the tracker. Keep the model separate from your actual purchase records, and revisit assumptions when your circumstances change. Read the related Bitcoin planning guide for context.

Useful questions

Does 4% mean my retirement is safe?

No. It is an editable illustration for sizing a portfolio. This tool does not estimate a failure probability, validate a withdrawal rule for Bitcoin, or model withdrawals across retirement.
