What this calculator answers
This calculator has a fixed coin-denominated destination: 1 BTC, or 100 million satoshis. It searches a monthly purchase schedule, beginning with your current holdings. Unlike the general Bitcoin Goal Calculator, which uses a fixed price and lets you choose any coin target, this tool focuses on one whole Bitcoin under changing price assumptions.
How the calculation works
The price advances using the effective annual assumption converted into monthly growth. Your monthly dollar contribution buys BTC at the end of each month. Those coins are added to existing holdings until the total reaches one BTC or the maximum planning horizon ends. The required monthly budget solves for exactly one BTC at the horizon using the same monthly purchase prices, without changing the number of coins you already own.
BTC after month m = starting BTC + sum of [monthly USD budget ÷ modeled end-of-month BTC price].
Worked example
At a constant $100,000 price, starting with 0.4 BTC leaves 0.6 BTC to acquire. A $1,000 monthly purchase buys 0.01 BTC, so it takes 60 purchases, or five years. The required cash contributions are $60,000. If the price rises throughout the period, each later $1,000 buys fewer coins and the crossing occurs later—or falls outside the selected horizon.
How to interpret the result
A “not reached” result is useful information, not a broken calculator. A constant dollar budget can fail to reach the target within your planning window when price growth outpaces coin accumulation. Compare the contribution required for the chosen horizon with your available budget. If you already hold at least 1 BTC, time remaining is zero and required future contributions are zero. Holdings are not capped at one BTC in the full-horizon projection.
Assumptions and limitations
The model uses month-end purchases rather than daily buys, excludes fees, and assumes you never sell or lose access to coins. A declining price may make coin accumulation faster while reducing the dollar value of the holdings. Reaching one Bitcoin is a personal milestone, not a guarantee of financial independence, retirement income, or a particular future net worth.
Privacy and practical next steps
The calculator does not connect to a wallet or change the Bitcoin Goal Tracker. Financial inputs remain in page memory except the shared live/manual price preference, most recent custom price, and last validated quote, which use isolated localStorage keys. Copying results is optional and includes financial inputs. Only a request for a normalized BTC/USD quote is sent to Stack2One's internal price endpoint; calculator financial inputs are not sent or included in custom analytics events.
Once you have a budget you want to follow, enter it yourself in the tracker. Keep the model separate from your actual purchase records, and revisit assumptions when your circumstances change. Read the related Bitcoin planning guide for context.
Useful questions
Will Bitcoin price appreciation increase my BTC holdings?
No. A price increase changes dollar value, not the number of coins you own. Only new purchases add BTC in this model.
